Following a Record-Breaking Year, Digital Gateway Has Big Plans for 2008 and Beyond
A total of 158 new companies joined the ranks of over 800 dealers using e-automate business management software to help manage everything from accounting to service dispatch. This is a record for Digital Gateway, which began in 1995 with a group of system integrators in CEO Jim Phillips' basement. Now more than a decade later and over $14 Million invested, e-automate has become the fastest growing dealer management software in the office equipment industry and is making a dramatic difference in the way independent dealers conduct business.
2007 was also a record breaking year in terms of additional features released to enhance the abilities of e-automate. In July, the company released e-automate 7.0, offering dealers new functionality, new technology and new ways to keep their business on top.
Some noteworthy additions in this release include all-new metrics pages based on job functions like President, CFO, Service Dispatcher or Contracts Manager. These metrics pages display the most critical information to help dealers stay focused on the measures that have a direct effect on smooth operations, customer satisfaction and overall profitability.
"We're very pleased with the release of e-automate 7.0." said Jim Phillips, CEO of Digital Gateway. "It represents a significant step forward in our effort to offer dealers the easiest to use and the most impactful management software available."
"We've really been paying attention to emerging technologies that will have the most positive effect on dealers." said Chris Kenworthy, Director of Development of Digital Gateway. "More than any other system of its kind, e-automate 7.0 utilizes a Web Services API in a fully integrated way to make processes more seamless and efficient between e-automate and our technology partners.
One area where this is most noticeable is with the integrations that have been established with all the major meter collection solutions available in the market today. With the advent of these new integrations the meter collection process is now handled in a fully automated fashion behind the scenes which makes life easier for both the dealers and their customers."
In December, Digital Gateway released Remote Tech 7.0, an integrated module allowing service technicians to use not only their laptop computers to access their service calls in the field but now also utilize Smartphone and PDA devices such as Palm®, Windows Mobile®, or Blackberry® devices. Service techs can update calls, view equipment histories and parts availability, close calls, receive new calls and get directions. The software also provides holding areas for "unassigned" calls, gives techs the freedom to create new calls, and has an enhanced two step field transfer.
Other features include multiple meters, item search, personal fax test and much more. This empowers service technicians to get the information they need in the field to optimize their time and become more efficient.
Listening to Dealers
Digital Gateway works closely with a dealer-run e-automate user's group which now has over 200 member companies. In 2007, Digital Gateway hosted the e-automate users group for a 3-day event in Salt Lake City, Utah where e-automate users met to receive instruction, discuss better ways to utilize their software, and gave critical input into future developments.
When asked how Digital Gateway has experienced such noteworthy growth, Digital Gateway's CEO said, "We trust our dealers and they've helped us build software that really stands out in the way it improves an organization. We've relied heavily on our user's group to determine what dealers really want and it's amazing how the word gets out once you deliver it."
What's Next
Following a record growth year, Digital Gateway doesn't plan on sitting back to enjoy their success. Plans are underway for one minor and one major update of the e-automate core product this year. New and improved modules are also being developed. "Our vision is to reflect the needs of our users in the finest all-in-one business software with the lowest cost of ownership," said Phillips. "The market continues to evolve and we're committed to 'e-automating' our independent dealers well into the future."
